Last Wednesday, Apr. 6th, I went to local Farm Fresh as usual. Everything looks fine at first. However, I am not an organized person. I went back to Farm Fresh with more coupons for a second time. Then I still have trouble in finding my coupon for Wesson Vegetable Oil. I came back home, I found the coupon. I came back to the store for the third time. The worst nightmare starts.
A Farm Fresh Lady called Michelle came up to me all of sudden, seems just come out from nowhere. Or maybe I was so concentrating on looking for the Purex products which was advertised on Sale. Without greeting, saying anything like” Hi” or “Excuse me”, this Michelle lady scared me by saying,, you’ve been to the store twice already, you are not allowed to use more coupons. Also you could not use the coupons printed out at the register. Then she left. Leaving me there stunned like a dummy.
I have to admit, I love Wednesday– the super double coupon day. I love coupon. I love my local Farm Fresh before this happened. So carefully I clipped coupon off Sunday newspaper, All you Magazine, printing out coupons from Internet. Bring them out for the special day-double coupon day. Stopping me using coupon is just like someone punching me in the face.
After the daze, I keep asking myself, Is this because I did something wrong? Why I am not welcomed at this store? Why I could not come back for the third time? With all these questions I am trying to answer myself, no, I did not do anything wrong, there must be lots of customer like me, when we find a coupon, or miss something, it is so convenient to come back , we will surely come back again.
What is wrong with using coupon? Will the store lose money? No, definitely not, They can redeemed the coupon from Manufacture or get credit for doubling it too.
Why this Michelle lady blow all this to me? First, I am Asian. I am easy to recognized and remembered. (Maybe I should be happy I am so distinguished, though I am not) . If I was a Caucasian, she probably won’t notice me at all, even if I came back four times. Second, It is late on that day, almost 1o:30, no other customers around. She could not find anyone else to bitch about. Third, She must have a long day and when she gets cranky I am there for her.
However I am not a person that I would just let this go. I need to know who is wrong? Who owes whom an apology?
With all the confusions and anger, I called the Farm Fresh corporate right away after I came back home. I asked why I could not use more coupons, what is their coupon policy ? The person is really nice they filed the case, and promised me that the local store manager will call me back within 24 hours.
On Apr 7th, A guy who claimed to be the store manager call me back, and he told me there is no limit for how many times you can go shopping per day, there is a 20 coupon limitation per transaction. Therefore it means you can go back to the store whenever you want. This guy assured me that he will tell Michelle about the coupon policy. And he said sorry for the confusion about the coupon policy. Then I asked him if this is possible for Michell call me back and I want to talk to her, and asked her why she treated me like that, if she knew she was wrong and she should apologize to me. The guy said Michelle is not working on that day. I could expect a call the next day.
On Apr 8th, a lady who claims to be the store manager called me instead of Michell. She told me the different story. She said she is sorry about the confusion caused by the coupon policy. The coupon policy is 20 coupons per day not per transaction. Then this lady hang up without mentioning if Michelle is going to call me or not.
The same night on Apr. 8th, I called the Farm Fresh Corporate again. I asked them why two store managers are giving me two conflicting stories about coupon policy. Is the second lady manager just trying to cover up for their employee and making up this story by telling me 20 coupons per day? Even it was 20 coupons per day, I did not even use up to 12 for the two previous trips. Is this just O.K for their employee being so rude to their own customer? Do they care about losing their customer at all?
The customer service girl is really nice and sweet, she told me she filed this case with new update like the customer is still waiting for an apology. She told me this is already Friday, I could expect to get a call from local Farm Fresh by next Monday. I said I totally understand this.
On Monday- Apr. 11th , I waited. NO CALL.
On Tuesday-Apr. 12th, I waited. NO CALL.
On Wednesday, my girl friend came and she is expecting to go shopping with me at Farm Fresh. I said No. Let’s forget about this Farm Fresh before I heard something from them. We did not show up at the nearby Farm Fresh.
On Thursday, which is today, Apr. 14th, My girl friend’s husband heard about my unpleasant experience. He called the Farm Fresh,which I really appreciated all of his help. He was told the store manager already apologized to me about what happened.
However, I never receive the same information as he told me. All their apology is about the confusion about coupon policy. They never mentioned anything about the rudeness of their employee- Michelle.
Is this a real apology? No. Absolutely not, I won’t accepted that. I called the Farm Fresh Corporate again. Asked them I am expecting a call no later than Monday. Why I did not get any phone call. To my surprise, Mick, who is a very nice guy at customer service told me, my case is already closed somehow. He is trying all his effort to calm me down and filed a new case for me. He assured me that I would get a response as soon as possible, it should be no later than tomorrow.
One hour or so, I got a phone call, I was expecting this is from Farm Fresh. However it is not. It is from my friend’s husband. He called the local Farm Fresh again and he find the manager. The lady apologized to him and said what Michelle had done is inexcusable, is wrong. She apologized for that. And blah-blah, said something like both me and his wife are welcomed to talk to her face to face, whenever we went to the store.
My question is how hard this would be to get an apology from the person who actually hurt you?
Will you be happy if someone punching you in the face and apologize this to your friend?
I, just, could not accept that.
